I’m a multimedia freelance journalist who travels between Chicago and West Africa (as well as a few places in between) and do what I love—telling stories. After graduating from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, I interned at Marie Claire in New York City before moving to Sarasota, Florida for a job at a weekly paper. In Florida I learned how to survive city council meetings and why it is always a good idea to live by the beach. At the beginning of 2008, I packed up and came to the West African country of Senegal. In Senegal I’ve learned a lot of things, some journalism related, and some not. Among those “not” are how to speak French, how to navigate African airports and where to buy the best peanuts in the world. I’ve also worked a lot, and my photographs and articles have been published by Reuters, The Christian Science Monitor, UNICEF and more. Oh, and one time the Kingdom of Bahrain hired me, which in my opinion is pretty cool and definitely worth mentioning. To view my official portfolio, visit www.riccimedia.com.
